1. How long would a bomb dropped from 20,000 ft (about 6,000 m or 3¾ miles) take to reach the ground (ignoring air resistance)?
2. Falling bombs don't actually make a whistling noise, as you see in some films. But if they did, how would the pitch of the whistle change as the bomb fell, from the point of view of the person it's being dropped on?
3. In World War II, the German Luftwaffe equipped their Ju 57 "Stuka" dive bombers with air-driven sirens, in order to make a howling noise during their bombing dive. These sirens were called "Lärmgerät" - which translates as...what?
